By Mexican law every piece of silver jewellery must be stamped 925 (925 parts in 1000, pure silver) The remainder is made of other metals to strengthen the silver. Silver on its own is too malleable.

Rubbing firmly with a cleaning cloth should be all that is necessary. For very dirty pieces or those with a lot of detail, a paste of bicarb will remove all dullness. Rather clean your jewellery regularly than allow it to become dull.

I am amused by the number of times I have been asked that question. Of course the answer is definitely not!! Every piece is handmade by talented craftsmen and      women in Mexico. Theirs is a life long devotion to creating by hand, unique pieces of jewellery reflecting their heritage, the seasons, the flora and fauna, supernatural characters, or whatever feeds their imagination!
